Cabo Verde: CPLP 12th Summit of head of states kicks off Tuesday

Iha do Sal, ANGOLA, July 17 - The 12th Summit of the heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) starts Tuesday, with focus on the issues related to mobility within CPLP zone and election of its new Executive Secretary. ,

 

To attend the event, the Angolan President, João Lourenço, left Tuesday for the venue of the Summit (Cabo Verde).

 

Six other Statesmen have confirmed their presence in Cabo Verde, with the exception of East Timor.

 

They are Brazil, Cabo Verde (host), Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe.

 

The first day is dedicated to the speeches of statesmen of member countries and representatives.

 

The agenda includes an official dinner for member’s states.

 

The Portuguese candidate, Francisco Ribeiro Telles, will be elected for the position of Executive Secretary for two-year term, taking over Mozambican Maria do Carmo da Silveira.

 

The last CPLP 11th Summit took place in Brasilia, Brazil, on October 31 and November 1, 2016.
