Angolan and Swiss Attorneys General strengthen cooperation
Bern, ANGOLA, July 14 - Attorney General Hélder Pitta Gróz and his counterpart from Switzerland Michale Lauber have this week discussed cooperation and operational issues related to ongoing criminal cases.,
According to a press release from the Attorney General's Office, the Attorneys met on May 12 in the city of Bern, Switzerland, and discussed their legal systems, law enforcement procedures and cooperation through legal mutual assistance Attorney General Lauber emphasized the value of coordinated action among the authorities in the fight against international corruption.
Delegations from both countries also discussed operational issues, highlighting ongoing criminal cases and requests for mutual assistance.
The discussions also focused on criminal cases opened at the end of April on suspicion of money laundering in relation to possible infractions, involving assets held by the National Bank of Angola (BNA) and the Angolan Sovereign Fund.
In these processes, still in progress, initially about USD 210 million in assets were frozen.
Meanwhile, 60 million dollars of the amount held by the Angolan Sovereign Fund have already been unblocked.
