ANGOLA, July 12 - Luanda -The minister of the Interior, Ângelo da Veiga Tavares, last Wednesday in Luanda said that the citizens ought to be calm because criminality in the country is under control, despite the existence of some worrying situations that have been promptly dealt with by the National Police. ,

According to a press note that reached ANGOP on Wednesday, the minister made that statement in Cairo City, Egypt, on the fringes of a three-day work visit, which started last Monday, at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart, Mahmoud Tawfiq, aimed at strengthening the historical ties and the ongoing bilateral consultations.

 

The Angolan minister held a work meeting with his counterpart, at which they decided, among other things, to work to create conditions so that soon a co-operation agreement can be signed between the Ministries of the Interior of Angola and Egypt.    

 

The two officials also discussed the possibility of Angolan cadres from the Ministry of the Interior to receive training in Egypt, as well as analysed the exchange of experiences in the areas of security, fight against terrorism, the reinforcement of communication channels and information exchange mechanisms.    

 

Ângelo da Veiga Tavares and Mahmoud Tawfiq also analysed the latest regional developments, current impact of some conflicts in the Middle East and in the African continent.  

 

The Angolan minister’s delegation, whose visit ended on Thursday,  included the Second General Commander of the National Police, Salvador José Rodrigues, the director of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), Eugénio Alexandre, director of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), Gil Famoso, director for International Exchange, Jorge Dembi, among other personalities.
