Parliament analyses draft law on military posts and badges

Luanda, ANGOLA, July 6 - The National Assembly Friday assessed, in the specialty, the Draft Law on Posts and Military Badges. ,

The session was conducted by the Chairperson of the second commission, linked to the areas of Defense, Security, Internal Order, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, Roberto Leal Monteiro.

At the session, lawmakers addressed issues of form and questioned the relevance of some elements of the legislative proposal.

The purpose of the Bill is to define and establish the hierarchy of military posts and badges in order to harmonize the relations of authority and subordination determined by the posts, antiquities and precedence.

The proposal establishes, in the category of officers, the subcategories of general the posts of General of the Army (General of Aviation and Admiral of the Navy), General (Admiral), Lieutenant General (Vice Admiral), Brigadier (Rear Admiral).

However the post of General-of-Aviation (General-of-Aviation and Admiral of the Army) is granted by promotion of the Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces.

In the category of senior officers are the positions of Colonel (sea captain and war), Lieutenant Colonel (captain of frigate), and Major (captain of corvette).

For the subcategory of captain officers are the captains and for the subalterns lie the lieutenants (frigate lieutenant), the sub-lieutenants (corvette lieutenant) and aspirants (navy).

In the hierarchy of sergeants stand the sergeant-major, sergeant-chief, sergeant-helper, the 1st sergeant, the 2nd sergeant, and the sub-sergeant.
