Speakers’ bios:
Fahad Abbasi is a public health professional who works on sensitizing public health workers in Pakistan to the needs of victims of gender-based violence. He also holds the role of founder and chief medical advisor for the Forum for Dignity Initiatives (FDI). FDI is Pakistani NGO promoting the rights of sexual and gender minorities and advocating for and supporting the victims of gender-based violence. Due to this work, and his concurrent position as the host of a popular radio program, Mr. Abbasi has become a recognized public figure in raising awareness and promoting public dialogue in Pakistan on the subject of gender-based violence.
Nida Zaidi is a journalist with a passion for gender issues and a platform to share new ideas with millions of Pakistanis. She has worked for the state-owned Pakistan Television (PTV) as a program producer for the past 10 years and has received international recognition for the quality of her documentaries. Additionally, Ms. Zaidi teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
