Angola strengthens cooperation with UN in fight against terrorism
New York, ANGOLA, July 2 - Angola is committed to strengthening cooperation with the specialised United Nations' agencies to improve its domestic capacity of combat the terrorist threat and integrate the country in regional strategies, said Friday in New York the State Secretary for Technical Assurance of the Interior.

Hermenegildo José Félix was speaking at the UN High Level Conference of Heads on Anti-Terrorism Organisations, held on 28 and 29 June this year.
The official underlined that Angola is target of illegal immigration of citizens who take advantage of the vulnerability of its borders to settle in diamond exploration areas.
He said that the country is working on approval and improvement of legislation on anti-money laundering and financing of terrorism, under the United Nations resolutions.
The official highlighted the UN role in supporting member states to implement the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
He said that terrorism poses an unprecedented threat to the stability and security of states as well as people’s well-being, due to the way the radical groups perpetrate their nasty actions.
Addressing the theme "strengthening international cooperation to combat the growing threat of terrorism," Hermenegildo warned of growing signs of radicalism, along with reports of religious intolerance.
The State Secretary warned that young people and ex-soldiers may become the main target into joining terrorist groups, and give room for implementation of training databases for these groups and their funding.
To counter these actions, the official defended efficient and effective response by specialised agencies from the countries whose success depends on international cooperation.
On the topic "Strengthening the UN role and capacity in the implementation of the UN's global strategy against terrorism," the official considered the sharing information on radicalised individuals as crucial to combat recruitment through the internet.
In New York since Thursday, the State Secretary is leading a delegation integrated by deputy director general of Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) Manuel do Nascimento Cardoso, National Director of Combat Organised Crime Pedro Lufunguila.
