African Union continues preparations for Nouakchott summit
Nouakchott, ANGOLA, June 27 - The Permanent Representatives' Committee (PRC) of the African Union (AU) last Tuesday continued the work of its 36th ordinary session in preparation of the 31st Summit of Heads of State
and Government to take place in the same Mauritanian City on July 1-2.

In addition to the traditional opening addresses, the first day of the meeting was marked Monday by the presentation of various reports on the activities carried out by the different AU organs in the last six months, as well as some assessments of the general situation on the continent.
One of the speakers was the president of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), Cameroonian deputy Roger Nkodo Dang, who in his report highlighted, among the successful activities of the organ he heads, a mission to the United States that "contributed to the lifting of sanctions against Sudan ".
Mr Dang added that the work carried out in the United States also allowed "increasing the visibility of Parliament beyond the confines of our continent."
The PRC is the body that conducts the current affairs of the African Union, producing recommendations on areas of common interest for the Member States.
