ACCJC accreditation is a hallmark of excellence.

This is a milestone in San José City College’s history and I am proud of our faculty, staff, and students for their efforts in making SJCC a great institution of higher learning.”
— Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland, San Jose City College President

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 15, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- San José City College (SJCC) learned this week that it received reaffirmation of its accreditation status until 2023 by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC).

The reaffirmed accreditation comes after ACCJC reviewed follow-up reports and evidentiary materials submitted in March 2018 after ACCJC accreditation site visits in October 2016.

In a letter to SJCC president Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland, ACCJC President Richard Winn expressed his appreciation “for the diligent work and thoughtful reflection” the College took in preparing its accreditation reports and materials. SJCC’s sister campus Evergreen Valley College also had its accreditation status reaffirmed.

“ACCJC accreditation is a hallmark of excellence, and we are grateful for ACCJC’s work in ensuring that we continue to meet their high standards for institutional effectiveness,” said Dr. Deborah Budd, SJECCD chancellor. “The fact that both Colleges have had their accreditation fully reaffirmed reflects the hard work taking place on our campuses, our commitment to continuous improvement, and the dedication of our faculty and staff to serving students.”

While the accreditation process was time-consuming and required many resources, Breland indicated that it was very much a team effort that involved all constituency groups at the College. “It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain ACCJC accreditation. This is a milestone in San José City College’s history, and I am proud of our faculty, staff, and students for their efforts in making SJCC a great institution of higher learning,” he said. “It’s important that we always work to improve upon and adapt the programs and services of the College to meet the needs of today's learners as well as the education and job training requirements of the new economy.”

Before SJCC’s next comprehensive review in fall of 2023, the institution will provide midterm reports in October 2020.
