The information was provided by the Secretary of State for Territory Administration and State Reform, Márcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel arguing that the current database raises challenges, regarding the issue of effective citizenship.
According to Márcio Daniel, there is a need to ensure that in municipal elections only resident citizens vote in a certain municipality.
He said that in terms of general elections, the criterion to participate is to be registered in the database of voters, but for the municipal elections there is a new element which is the location of the residence.
In March, the Council of the Republic, in a session preside over by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, recommended the holding of local elections in 2020, having the government tasked of creating technical, administrative, material and financial conditions for its implementation in the current legislature.
