Edgewater Bank Opens Loan Office in Fremont, MI

SAINT JOSEPH, Mich., June 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Edgewater Bancorp, Inc. (OTC PINK:EGDW), the holding company for Edgewater Bank, announced plans to open a Loan Production Office (“LPO”) in Fremont, MI.  The new LPO, located within the H & S Plaza facility on West Main Street, will initially provide commercial and agricultural lending services to Fremont and the surrounding areas.

Donald (Don) Farmer, a 38-year banking veteran and 30-year Fremont resident, will serve as Senior Vice President of Edgewater Bank and operate out of the Fremont LPO.  Farmer is a graduate of Central Michigan University and numerous industry-specific educational programs.  He has been active in the Fremont and Newaygo County areas, serving in leadership roles with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Fremont Lions Club, National Baby Food Festival, Newaygo County Agricultural Fair Association, Newaygo County 4-H Council, and Fremont Public Schools Board of Education.  Farmer is a past recipient of the Dorcas Mortland Award from the Fremont Chamber of Commerce for his contributions to local business and the Fremont community.

Richard E. Dyer, President & CEO of Edgewater Bank, stated, “I’ve known and worked with Don since 1994.  He is an excellent banker and dedicated community member.  Don knows the market and will be a strong advocate of Edgewater’s community banking philosophy.”  Dyer also noted, “Don will have the flexibility, autonomy, and resources to serve Fremont and the surrounding market areas because of the confidence we have in his abilities and experience.  He will also serve on Edgewater’s leadership team, adding his talents to an existing team of accomplished community bankers.”

Dyer indicated that the Fremont area was an attractive market for Edgewater because of Farmer, but also because of knowledge and experience in the market.  Dyer served as President & CEO of FMB-Old State Bank of Fremont and previously lived in Fremont.  He was also active with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Fremont Economic Development Corporation, and served as Chairman of the National Baby Food Festival.  He is a past recipient of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce’s Community Action Award.

In addition to Farmer and Dyer’s connections to the Fremont market, Edgewater Bank’s Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Coleen Frens-Rossman is a Fremont native.  Her parents and other family members still reside in Fremont.

Farmer commented about his new role with Edgewater, “I look forward to continuing to serve the community and working for an organization that places so much effort and attention on client service, community involvement, and flexible banking practices.”
