Angola confirms interest in La Francophonie

Toulouse, ANGOLA, May 30 - Foreign Minister Manuel Augusto confirmed Tuesday, in Castelnaudary, near Toulouse, that Angola is interested in joining the International Organization of La Francophonie as an observer.,

On the basis of this interest is the fact that the country is in a geographical area limited by countries belonging to two different language groups.

Angola is located on the South Atlantic coast of Africa, between Namibia (English speaking), Congo (French), Democratic Republic of Congo (French) and Zambia (English).

"We are Portuguese-speaking; we have Anglophone and Francophone neighbors. We have everything to gain if we get close to all type of organization that those neighboring countries integrate", he declared.

By assessing the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to France, Minister Manuel Augusto highlighted the importance of  La Francophonie and the Commonwealth in the world, as a congregating factor of several continents.

The visit to France by the Angolan Head of State ends this Wednesday.
