Luanda, ANGOLA, May 10 - Angola's extraordinary and plenipotentiary, Sianga Samuel Abilio, was accredited Wednesday as the country's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Offices in Nairobi. ,

The diplomat delivered the letters to Ambassador Sahle-Work Zewde, assistant secretary general and director-general of the United Nations Offices in Nairobi, representing the organization's Secretary-General, António Guterres.

 

At the end of the ceremony, the diplomat, with the Director General of the United Nations Offices in Nairobi, addressed the political transition in Angola and the collaboration and involvement of member states within the United Nations system, especially African states.

 

The high-level conference on the sustainable blue economy, to be held in Nairobi from 26 to 28 November 2018, was also discussed at the courtesy meeting.

 

The Angolan diplomat expressed the intention of Angola to strengthen cooperation with the United Nations.

 

Sianga Abílio was appointed ambassador by the President of the Republic, Joao Lourenco, in the first week of last February and took office on FEbruary 12.

 

Last Friday (May 4), the Angolan diplomat presented to the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, the credentials that accredit him as the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to that country.
