Authorities prepare revision of Exchange Law
Luanda, ANGOLA, May 10 - The governor of the National Reserve Bank (BNA), José de Lima Massano, announced on Wednesday that the country’s current Exchange Law will soon be revised, so that the concerned authorities can have detailed information regarding the financial resources domiciled abroad and owned by Angolan persons or institutions.
,
The current Exchange Law does not compel the citizens to declare the financial resources they have outside the country, therefore, he explained, the BNA is not in condition to inform the public about specific financial amounts , domiciled abroad , owned by Angolan citizens.
The BNA governor was speaking at a press conference, on the fringes of a debate, in the specialty committee of the National Assembly (Parliament), about the Bill on Repatriation of Financial Resources Domiciled Broad (submitted by the President of the Republic) and the Bill on the Assets Regulation Extraordinary Regime “RERP” (submitted by the opposition UNITA party).
The two bills will get the final scrutiny from the National Assembly’s plenary session on 17 May.
“From there, we’ll be able i condition to know exactly the origin of funds and, in knowing the origin, it will be clear what is legal and what is illegal”, clarified the Angolan Central Bank governor.
