Nasdaq Announces End-of-Month Open Short Interest Positions in Nasdaq Stocks as of Settlement Date April 30, 2018

NEW YORK, May 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of April 30, 2018, short interest in 2,336 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,180,931,585 shares compared with 7,225,723,436 shares in 2,332 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of April 13, 2018. The end-of-April short interest represents 4.56 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.68 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 885 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 1,051,613,428 shares at the end of the settlement date of April 30, 2018 compared with 1,047,853,121 shares in 888 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.88 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.52.

In summary, short interest in all 3,221 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,232,545,013 shares at the April 30, 2018 settlement date, compared with 3,220 issues and 8,273,576,557 shares at the end of the previous reporting period.
