Official defends specific budget for criminal sciences institute

Luanda, ANGOLA, May 4 - The transformation of the Higher Institute of Police and Criminal Sciences (ISCPC) into a budget unit, so that it can better resolve its own problems, is necessary and urgently required, defended last Thursday in Luanda the director of the institution, Luís Cadete. ,

The institute, recently visited by members of the Angolan Parliament’s 2nd Commission, has been facing logistical, accommodation and academic problems, situations that can be overcome if it is transformed into a budget unit.

Speaking to the press in the end of the said parliamentary visit, Luís Cadete explained that the ISCPC survives on funds provided by the National Police General Command, which has been insufficient to tackle the needs of the institution, having into account its specificity.

“We are not an independent budget unit, we depend on the General Command, which gives us some money”, stressed the source.

The police commissioner said hopes the MPs that visited the institution take good note of the issue and include it in the report of the 2nd Commission of the Parliament.

On her turn, the deputy chairperson of the mentioned commission, Maria Salomé, made a positive assessment of the visit and pledged to take the problems that were identified to the concerned institutions.
