NDP: Child protection measures highlighted

Luanda, ANGOLA, May 3 - The recently adopted National Development Plan (NDP) 2018/2022 comprises set of measures that ensure the development and protection of Angolan children, said on Wednesday the State Secretary for Human Rights and Citizenship. ,

 

Ana Celeste Januário was addressing an opening ceremony of conference on the child's right and the impact on childhood policies in Angola.

 

Among the measures, she stressed the creation of programmes like the institutionalisation of children, creation of Jobs and incomes.

 

The officials also mentioned the support for institutions for sheltering the children and social assistance programme in health and education sectors, among the measures.

 

The State Secretary recalled that the protection policies of child’s rights are mainly associated with the legal instruments such as the country's Constitution, the African Charter on the Rights of Child, the International Convention on the Rights of Child, the Law on Protection and full Development of the Child and the eleven Commitments to the Child.

 

In view of the new Constitutional Framework, the Angolan government has adopted since 2010 measures, policies and programmes for economic and social development in compliance with the recommendations, as the country is also member of the Convention on the Rights of Child since 1990.

 

 

The National Development Plan 2018-2022 was approved on 26 April this year at 4th session of Cabinet Council.

 

Under the Angola 2015 long term-strategy, the NDP will be tasked with guiding the actions of Executive to ensure the implementation of a set of policies for wellbeing and living standards of Angolan families.
