SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Leaders, experts and elected officials from throughout California’s water community will gather in Sacramento May 8-11 for the Association of California Water Agencies’ (ACWA) 2018 Spring Conference & Exhibition.

Themed “CA Water: Building for the Future,” the first of two biannual ACWA conferences will feature keynote speeches by California Department of Water Resources Director Karla Nemeth and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) Board Chairman Randy Record. Record will discuss MWD’s recent board vote to fund most of California WaterFix, the Brown Administration’s proposed plan to address Bay-Delta conveyance with underground tunnels.

ACWA expects more than 1,300 attendees at the conference, which will host forums on numerous issues currently impacting California water, ranging from environmental and regulatory developments to insights on technology, water storage and conservation measures.

Specific forums will include the impact of legalized cannabis cultivation on water resources, fire and flood recovery, and public financing of water-related projects. The conference also will update attendees on the latest news and planned next steps on repairing the Oroville Dam. More than 80 vendors will fill the Exhibit Hall.
