Cuanhama to be first in local elections in Cunene

Ondjiva, ANGOLA, April 13 - The municipality of Cuanhama, Southern Cunene province, will be the first to hold local elections in the region, as part of the gradualism of the process, scheduled for 2020, local governor Kundi Paihama announced Thursday in Ondjiva.,

The governor was speaking at the end of a meeting with the traditional authorities of the Cuanhama municipality, where he recommended the preparation of the process, beginning with the sensitization of the population, aiming at the consolidation of democracy and greater participation of citizens in political life.

The municipality of Cuanhama has 360, 491 inhabitants.

The Council of the Republic meeting on 22 March this year, under the guidance of President João Lourenço, recommended, by consensus, that municipalities should be held in 2020.
