Vice President pays homage to nationalist Jaka Jamba
Luanda, ANGOLA, April 5 - Angola's Vice President Bornito de Sousa Thursday paid tribute to the nationalist, politician and historian Almerindo Jaka Jamba, who died in Luanda victim of illness at the age of 69.

Bornito de Sousa laid a wreath on the casket containing the remains of nationalist Jaka Jamba.
Attended the ceremony was also the former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, who, along with Vice president, expressed sympathy to bereaved family and the party to which he belonged.
The Vice-President considered Almerindo Jaka Jamba a man of consensus and open-mindedness whose experience contributed to the creation of the 2010 Constitution.
"We have monitored and expressed, on behalf of head of State, João Lourenço, feelings of sorrow to the family and the party to which Jaka Jamba belonged”, he said, stressing the senior positions he held at the level of deputy Speaker of National Assembly.
Also paid tribute to the ill-fated Jaka Jamba were Speaker of National Assembly Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, Chief Justices of Higher Courts, MPs, leaders, high ranking military and National Police officials, members of the Political Commission of UNITA, representatives of civil society organisations.
Jaka Jamba was laid to rest Thursday at "Santa Ana" Cemetery n Luanda.
Almerindo Jaka Jamba, 69, was born on March 21, 1949 and was a UNITA deputy, an Angolan political party he joined in 1972.
The deceased was graduated in Philosophy, by the Classical University of Lisbon, and also got a PhD in History.
Under the Alvor Accords, signed in 1975, between Portugal and the then Angolan liberation movements (FNLA, MPLA and UNITA), he would occupy, in the Transitional Government, the office of Secretary of State of Information.
He was vice-president of the National Assembly (1997-2005) and ambassador to the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris (2005-2008).
In the UNITA party, he has held several prominent positions, such as Secretary of Education, Information, Foreign Affairs, Culture and African Heritage.
In 1992, he was appointed as second deputy speaker of the National Assembly and spokesman for the UNITA parliamentary group.
Jaka Jamba was part of the Constitutional Commission of Angola, representing the largest opposition party of Angola.
