Luanda, ANGOLA, March 21 - The European Union (EU) will support the process of effective decentralization in Angola so that municipalities can have a local perspective of development and no longer depend exclusively on central power.,
The information was released on Wednesday in Luanda by the consultant of this international organization Carlos Merla, at the end of a meeting with the Commission of Economy and Finance of the National Assembly, chaired by the deputy Diógenes de Oliveira.
The European Union consultant said that it was necessary to strengthen the role of civil society organizations in the context of economic diversification and the establishment of local authorities in the country.
It also noted that the EU is working with civil society organizations to identify a strategic road map for participatory governance.
He believes that civil society organizations should play a crucial role in the current institutional economic context of the country and in local processes, which can open spaces for better combining and collaboration with political and legislative powers.
"The role of civil society is broad, including associations, churches, academic institutions, the media and the trade union of entrepreneurs who in this context of economic crisis need to contribute to the diversification of the economy and job creation ..." he expressed.
