Journalists union defends election of ethics, portfolio commission
Luanda, ANGOLA, March 16 - Angolan Journalists Union (SJA) wants the Regulatory Body of the Angolan Media (ERCA) to summon an assembly in coming days to ensure the election of Portfolio and Ethics Commission in order to regulate the activity in the country.
,
The concern was expressed Wednesday by SJA general secretary, Teixeira Cândido.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the election of the ERCA deputy chairperson, the official said that the association is concerned about systematic violation of the incompatibilities that need to be address.
Under the press law, he said, a journalist is not allowed to work at the same time as press, public relations, or advertising agent.
ERCA comprises 11 members - five picked up by the ruling MPLA party, one by president of Republic, three with opposition parties and two by the journalists’ association.
