President of Republic visits Lunda Norte

Dundo, ANGOLA, March 13 - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, travels Wednesday to the province of Lunda Norte, for a two-day mission.,

In a press note, the Civil Office of the President of the Republic states that in addition to visiting various productive and social enterprises, on the day of his arrival, the Head of State will address on Thursday the work of the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers.

President João Lourenço's visit to Lunda Norte will also be an opportunity to work with the governors of the eastern region of the country, namely Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul and Moxico, for an overall assessment of their current situation.

The trip takes place two weeks after João Lourenço was in the nearby province of Lunda Sul, where he opened the academic year in the capital (Saurimo).

The President visits Lunda Norte after a number of residents of the province protested against the increase in the price of Angola air carrier TAAG tickets on the Dundo-Luanda route and vice versa.

In November last year, the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers met in Cabinda. At the occasion, the general guidelines of the General State Budget (OGE) 2018, document submitted to Parliament and already approved, were analyzed.

The meeting also focused on a cut of more than 25% in the price of tickets made by TAAG, the flag airline, to the Cabinda enclave in the north of the country.

The Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers is charged with dealing with the macroeconomic agenda of the Angolan Government and ensuring the conduct of economic management in harmony with the objectives and priorities of the Governance Program of the President of the Republic.
