Importance of Angolan State Intelligence Services highlighted
Luanda, ANGOLA, March 13 - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, on Tuesday in Luanda stressed the importance of the Intelligence Services in guaranteeing Angola's defense and sovereignty.,
João Lourenço said so at the inauguration ceremony of the head of the State Intelligence and Security Service (SINSE), Fernando Garcia Miala, nominated last Monday.
At Luanda’s Presidential Palace, the Angolan Head of State said that General Fernando Miala, although inaugurated in a conjuncture of peace in the country, is not without great challenges in his mission.
According to the President, the experience of this military officer, who had held the position for years, will contribute to improving the effectiveness of the work of the intelligence services.
"We were looking for someone who, like a few, practically went through all the intelligence services in our country," he said.
In the Noble Hall of the Presidential Palace, before the inauguration ceremony, the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, João Lourenço, also promoted Fernando Garcia Miala to the rank of general.
Prior to his promotion, Fernando Miala held the rank of lieutenant general.
In another ceremony, João Lourenço also sworn in Josefa António dos Santos Neto to the position of counsellor Judge of the Constitutional Court.
"We rely on his knowledge to help dignify, increasingly, Angolan justice," said the President.
