Competition law ensures creation of regulatory authority

Luanda, ANGOLA, March 10 - Angola’s National Assembly MPs will discuss and approve in general the Draft Law on Competition at the next Parliamentary session. ,

 

The Competition Law sets the creation of Competition Regulatory Authority which prevent and crack down on actions of economic agents that fail to comply with the rules and principles of competition.

 

The Competition Regulatory Authority will be guided by the criterion of public interest for promotion and defence of competition.

 

Acting in defence of public interest, the Competition Regulatory Authority may file a suit in case of  the violation of the rules.

 

The proposal of the Competition Law, under the initiative of the President of Republic, João lourenço, was approved unanimously on Friday by Commissions of Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Economy and Finance  of the National Assembly.

 

The initiative is intended to introduce, for the first time in the Angolan legal system, a system of defence of competition, through a law that integrates principles and rules of sound competition.
