The Rev. Jay Lawlor preached "Jesus lives! And Jesus loves! And the world is forever changed" in a sermon at Grace Episcopal Church, Muncie, Indiana.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, US, February 21, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Rev. Jay Lawlor served as guest priest at Grace Episcopal Church in Muncie where he encouraged the congregation "we are not to despair. We are not to let fear and doubt consume us" as he preached about the story of 'Doubting Thomas.' In his sermon the Rev. Lawlor provided context about Jesus' first disciples and the community out of which John's Gospel was written. He then connected those early Christian experiences to the lives of Christians today.

The Rev. Lawlor talked about how negative fear and doubt can consume us, just as it did for the first followers of Jesus. He then spoke of how Jesus "erased their fear and doubt, and empowered them to be witnesses of the Resurrection. To be witnesses of Jesus’s love for the world. The movement they thought had ended was just getting started." The Rev. Lawlor then added "[...]the Jesus Movement continues today. It continues with us."

While we may experience fear and doubt, the Rev. Jay Lawlor encouraged the people of Grace Episcopal Church to live into Jesus' message of justice rooted in love. "Christians throughout the centuries have been given the gospels as a witness to all Jesus did, so we can believe. Jesus lives! And Jesus loves! We have received the Holy Spirit in Baptism — and that same Spirit renews us in Holy Communion — so we are empowered to proclaim to the world Jesus lives! And Jesus loves!"

The Rev. Lawlor concluded his sermon by encouraging the congregation "Let’s show the world. Jesus lives! And Jesus loves!"
