Addis Ababa, ANGOLA, January 28 - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Saturday to participate, from the 28th to the 29th of this month, at the 30th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (UA). ,

The Head of State will be one of the speakers at the opening ceremony of the Summit.  

In parallel to this summit, João Lourenço will fill his agenda with participation in statutory events and in various bilateral and multilateral meetings.

In the framework of the regions to which Angola belongs, a summit is scheduled for Monday (29), and at SADC level there are contacts for a meeting of Heads of State and Government.

The 30th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the AU is taking place under the  motto “winning the fight against corruption: a sustainable path to Africa's transformation”.

The agenda includes the presentation of a statement by the outgoing President of the AU, the Head of State of the Republic of Guinea, Alpha Condé, and interventions by the President of the African Commission (AUC), Moussa Faki Mahamat.

The Secretary-General of the UN, António Guterres, and the President of the Palestinian State and the PLO Executive Committee, Mahmoud Abbas, are also expected to address the Summit.

On the first day, in addition to launching this year's theme “winning the fight against corruption: a sustainable path to Africa's transformation”,  Rwanda President, Paul Kagame, presents his report on Institutional Reform of the AU.  

Among other presentations, the reports of the Peace and Security Council, its activities and  of  the situation of Africa, as well as of the High Level Committee for Libya, will be presented by the Congolese President, Denis Sassou Nguesso.
