Ethiopia: Angola reafirms committement to AU goals

Addis Ababa, ANGOLA, January 26 - Angola remains committed to the materialization of the African Union (AU) goals and ?will never be a blockage? to the ongoing reforms in this organization, which is currently discussing issues hitting the continent such as corruption and emigration. ,

Angola’s commitment was reiterated on Thursday, in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, by the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Manuel Augusto, who stressed that the country is in the frontline for the achievement of the AU goals.

One of the main goals of the AU reforms is to ensure full financial independence to its organs, a measure that the Angolan official considered crucial for the implementation of the programmes in Africa.

“Nobody better than Africans to resolve the programmes of Africa, naturally, many of these programmes, need financial resources to be implemented” said the Angolan official.

Meanwhile, he underlined that Africans need to leave out theory and become proactive, taking into account that each one at its own level must implement the commitments made by the States.

Manuel Augusto also underlined that the problem of corruption is not a typical or exclusive phenomenon of Africa, but is one of the main reasons behind the continent’s backwardness in terms of socio-economic development.
