Ethiopia / UA: Angola calls for deliberation on DRC
Addis Ababa, ANGOLA, January 25 - Angola expects that the Heads of States and Government of the African Union (AU) deliberate and outline decisions towards the political crisis in the continent, in particular in the Democratic Republic of Congo, during the 30th Ordinary Summit in Addis-Ababa on January 28,29. ,
This position was manifested on Wednesday in Addis-Ababa by the Angolan Ambassador to Ethiopia, Arcanjo do Nascimento, who also spoke of other urgent problems that need to be reviewed in this meeting, such as of South Sudan, Somalia and Libya.
According to the diplomat, Angola will continue with its commitment to seek solutions to sort out the problems that affect the peace and security in Africa, hence the reason why the country is currently running for a seat in the African Union Peace and Security Council.
“The position of Angola is that we must invest more in the prevention of conflicts rather than in their resolution after they have triggered off” said the diplomat.
Concerning the free trade zone, the diplomat has considered a further step in the integration of Africa as there is a negotiating process that is coming to an end with the objective to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers to free trade on the continent.
