Fuel smuggling case trial starts January 22
Lubango, ANGOLA, January 16 - A year after launching the complaint, the Huíla Provincial Court begins judging on May 22 the 31 defendants involved in the smuggling of 4.2 million liters of fuel for fueling a
thermal power plant in Lubango city.,
The case began in November 2015, but only in January, 2016 was discovered, with the State being harmed by 571. 7 million Kwanzas, with whom the defendants, among drivers and technicians of the Public Electricity Generation Company (PRODEL) ) of Sonangol and officers of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) acquired vehicles, residences and other assets, already confiscated by the authorities.
The date of the beginning of the trial was confirmed on Tuesday to Angop by the prosecutor linked to SIC, Adão do Nascimento, noting that 31 defendants were constituted, 23 of them jailed, in particular the deputy director of SIC, Superintendent Abel Wayaha, while the others respond to the lawsuit in freedom.
