Airthings Announces a Complete System for Remote Monitoring of Radon and Indoor Air Quality, Including Two New Products: Wave Plus and Hub

An intuitive web dashboard and mobile app allows building managers, employers and homeowners to improve wellbeing and increase productivity by easily monitoring serious indoor air pollutants

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- We exercise, watch what we eat, protect our children from toxins and overall try to take steps to living a healthier life. But what about the air we are breathing in our offices, schools, homes and other public places? Airthings, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) specialists and experts in Radon, today announces the expansion of its ecosystem with two new products: Airthings Wave Plus and Airthings Hub. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, killing approximately 58 people per day in the United States. Furthermore, people spend 90 percent of their time indoors, which is why Airthings believes that measuring IAQ is the most important step in preventing illness and improving health, while increasing productivity, and reducing energy consumption.

Airthings Wave Plus is the first wirelessly connected and battery operated Indoor Air Quality monitor with Radon, designed for all populated spaces. The new solution provides building managers, employers and homeowners with full visibility into three serious indoor air pollutants: radon, carbon dioxide (CO2) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Through the Airthings Dashboard, users have access to interpretations of IAQ data and tips to reduce indoor air hazards, optimize ventilation and save energy. Temperature, air pressure and humidity are also monitored, and indication of occupancy is possible. In addition, users simply wave in front of the device to receive a color-coded visual indicator of the overall air quality.

Airthings Hub is the heart of the Airthings Ecosystem. It connects up to 50 battery operated devices through Airthings Smartlink, a long-range and low-power wireless data extraction technology. This allows devices to be distributed around a large building or home, which is essential as levels of these pollutants vary from room to room. Real-time IAQ data is available to users anytime, anywhere. Airthings Hub will be available with Ethernet and a cellular option.

“We are the market leader in radon detection, and have focused on radon for the past 10 years. For us, it is a natural progression to move into the broader air quality space,” said Oyvind Birkenes, CEO of Airthings. “We’re eager to empower people with awareness and understanding of the most dangerous indoor air pollutants and excited to announce an easy solution for people to monitor them in any populated space, either at work, school, or at home.”

Airthings Wave Plus and Airthings Hub are priced at $269 and $69 respectively. Discounted pre-orders are available now, and products will ship in Q2 of 2018.
