Over 15,000 criminal cases referred to court

Luanda, ANGOLA, December 27 - At least 15,387 cases were completed and sent to the court this year by the Public Prosecution Service of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), out of a total of 34,406 criminal cases.,

This information was provided today (Wednesday) in Luanda by the deputy attorney general of the Republic, Yemanjá Videira, during the ceremony to present year-end greetings to the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Grós.

In her speech, the National Director of Organization, Planning and Statistics of the Attorney General pointed out that, in relation to the movement of defendants who had been under remand custody, 45,667 were registered, 34,441 of which were released for legal reasons.

Regarding the procedural movement before the courts of first instance, Yemanjá Videira stated that a total of 26,269 cases were filed, of which 20,299 were filed in court, through dispatches of attorneys of the Republic.

Regarding the hearings made, the director explained that the provisional number amounts to 14,555, with 841 appeals.
