Angola backs African Charter on children's rights
Luanda, ANGOLA, December 4 - Angola will defend the initial report on the implementation of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.

The country will take this advantage at the 30th ordinary session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child on 6 - 16 December in Khartoum, Sudan.
According to Justice and Human Rights Ministry, it has to do with a report prepared by the Inter-ministerial Commission for creation of National Human Rights Reports, sent to the African Committee in 2013.
Angola will present the progress on the implementation of the Charter in the country.
Focus goes to legislative, political and institutional measures, as well as the current situation of children in Angola and their challenges.
Angop learnt on Monday that Angola, through Law nº 25/12 of August 22, approved the protection mechanisms and integral development of the Child.
The mechanisms covers the eleven commitments to the Child.
The measures implemented by the Angolan Executive include Citizen Birth and Expansion of Registration" scheme.
This initiative allows the free birth registration which contributed to the expansion of Birth Registration countrywide.
Article 43 of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child obliges States to periodically submit reports on the measures taken to implementation of provisions of the Charter and on the progress achieved.
Angola will be represented in the event by a delegation led by the State Secretary for Family and Promotion of Women, Ruth Madalena Mixinge.
The delegation will be integrated by the State Secretary for Human Rights and Citizenship Ana Celeste Januário, State Secretary for Media Celso Malavoloneke.
