General suggests construction of national pantheon
Luanda, ANGOLA, November 25 - The army general in the reserve, Francisco Pereira Furtado, on Friday suggested the construction of a national pantheon, an infrastructure to house the remains of Angolan citizens who distinguished themselves for services rendered to the country and in the exercise of high posts.,
The construction of the infrastructure aims to honor and perpetuate the memory of citizens who have distinguished themselves by services provided to the country, in the military service, in the expansion of culture, literary, scientific and artistic creation and in defense of moral values for dignifying the human person and the cause of freedom.
Francisco Pereira Furtado, who was speaking on "The heroes of independence and the defense of the sovereignty of the motherland," stressed that national decorations, assistance to former combatants and veterans of the motherland are some forms of recognition of citizens who outstood in different spheres of national life.
He affirmed that national heroes should not be recognized only after their physical disappearance, since on many occasions history must be told by the protagonists themselves.
