Angola and France foresee defence, security deal

The French ambassador to Angola, Sylvain Itté announced this Tuesday in Luanda.
The European country’s diplomat said so to the press at the end of an audience granted by the Angolan minister of National Defence, Salviano Sequeira.
The meeting discussed aspects related to the mechanisms of this protocol, which is in final phase.
According to him, the agreement includes areas such as peacekeeping and organisation of forces for the purpose and maritime safety in the Gulf of Guinea.
He also said the meeting focused on the issues related to the Central and Southern Africa regions, as well as others of common interest to the armed forces of both countries.
Angola/France cooperation includes sectors of defence, agriculture and tourism, oil, industry, education, civil construction, culture, science, technology and higher education training.
Political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries date back to February, 1976, when the European country recognised the Independence of Angola.
