President Donald J. Trump Announces Intent to Nominate Leonard Wolfson to the Department of Housing and Urban Development

If confirmed, Leonard Wolfson of Connecticut will serve as Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Wolfson has served as Associate Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the Mortgage Bankers Association, where he helped the real estate finance industry recover from the financial crisis by advocating for a return to safe and sustainable lending. He previously served at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as General Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations, during the George W. Bush administration. During that time, he led HUD’s successful legislative efforts to modernize the Federal Housing Administration as part of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. Mr. Wolfson’s career began in 1996 on the staff of his hometown congressional representative, Christopher Shays. He earned a B.A. in history and political science from the University of Connecticut.
