Secretary of Energy Rick Perry Met With Young Leaders in the Nuclear Community At the Millennial Nuclear Caucus

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the U.S. Department of Energy and the Nuclear Energy Institute will host a “Millennial Nuclear Caucus” as part of this year’s Nuclear Science Week.

Following a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry this morning, the Millennial Nuclear Caucus will be a continuation of the discussion of nuclear energy’s role in our evolving world. The event will bring together young professionals in the nuclear industry to collaborate, strategize, and share their unique vision for the future of the nuclear industry.

“I had the pleasure of meeting with a number of young visionaries in the nuclear field this morning,” said Secretary Perry. “The importance of their ideas and contributions to our future cannot be overstated. Millennials will shape our energy landscape for years to come, leading our country into the next generation of nuclear advancement and energy dominance."

The Millennial Nuclear Caucus will cover advanced technology and the applications of nuclear science to move society forward. Acting Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy Ed McGinnis will welcome the young professionals and a panel of young leaders in the field will kick off small group discussions led by the emerging influencers who are shaping nuclear enterprises and policy.
