Responsibilities: The incumbent for this position will be responsible for the day to day management and operation of the PotashCorp Hammond Distribution Center. The position will ensure that the facility adheres to PotashCorp’s safety, health and environmental policies and that the facility is run in an efficient manner to meet our customer requirements. The incumbent will also ensure that PotashCorp and the facility maintain a strong and positive presence in the local community. • Assist in preparation of standard operating and safety procedures • Day to day management and oversight of the facility to ensure safe and efficient operation • Primary contact for Potash T&D and product management departments to coordinate all shipping activity at the distribution center • Primary contact for PotashCorp in the local community • Manage contract rail & equipment operators • Coordinate rail movement within the yard • Coordinate and perform loading and unloading of rail cars and trucks as needed • Control conveying and other product handling equipment using PLC computer systems • Identify and resolve problems related to the operation of the facility • Maintain the Facilities Assets: Conveyors, Buildings, Equipment, and Grounds • Perform inspections of Hammond warehouse and all loading and unloading equipment • Collaborates with the Manager of Warehouses on status of repairs/projects at the Facility • Primary contact for sales managers and customers making inquiries about the Facility • Processes and codes all invoices for the Facility • Ensures that the appearance of the Facility is up to PotashCorp standards
Qualifications: The position requires an individual that has 5-10 years of experience at a bulk storage facility and 3-5 years of mechanical and electrical experience. Individual understands appropriate safety procedures and policies (particularly those relevant to the job at hand, including SH&E standards). Experience with computer controlled equipment (PLC) is also necessary. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations is required. An Associates degree and/or formal training (certification or designation) in mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures is preferred.
General skills requirements: • Excellent leadership and communication skills are required. Public speaking and the ability to effectively represent PotashCorp in the local community are required.
