UN Recognized Tamil Refugee families held in inhuman conditions in camps in Indonesia for over five years

These Refugee families are appealing to the UN to consider their plight and to resettle them in third countries.

MEDAN, INDONESIA, October 13, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ --

It is reported that fifteen Sri Lankan Tamil refugee families, including children, are held in a camp for over five years in the city of Medan in Indonesia.

Even though five years have passed since they arrived to Indonesia, no one was resettled to third countries, like refugees from other countries.

These refugees live in inhuman conditions, lacking basic amenities and proper medical attention. Children are growing up without proper education and these families are in a state of limbo, wondering how many more years they are going to stay there without getting re-settled to a third country.

It is also reported that when these families went on hunger strike some time back, UN officials assured them that they will be re-settled to third countries.

Now these refugee families are appealing to the UN to consider their plight and to resettle them in third countries.
