Cabinet adopts measures to improve economic, social situation

Luanda, ANGOLA, October 10 - Angola's Cabinet Council approved Tuesday the policies and actions to improve the economic and social situation in the country. ,

 

This was at its first Ordinary Meeting chaired by the head of State, João Lourenço.

 

The programme covers the main economic policies to be implemented from October 2017 running to March 2018, according to a note released at the end of the session.

 

The project aims to positively change the expectations of economic agents (private sector and households) toward the new Executive aimed to achieve macroeconomic stability and create a climate conducive to economic growth and job creation.

 

The meeting also approved the organisation and functioning of the Auxiliary Bodies of the President of Republic.

 

This legal document aims to reshape the organ of these bodies to ensure the exercise of the functions and competencies of the President of Republic, as Head of State and chief of Executive Power.

 

The session also approved the organic regime of the Cabinet Council aimed at providing the body with a functional structure adjusted to the responsibilities of the President of Republic and the new model of organisation and functioning of the Executive.

 

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for a legislative authorisation law that will be forwarded to the National Assembly.

 

The session also approached the update the Customs Tariff of Taxes and Exports, as well as the Taxes consumer goods and those produced in the country.

 

The meeting preliminarily assessed a document on the decentralised management of Community revenue and the management of the General State Budget having recommended to keep working on the final adoption of this instrument.

 

The intention is to improve the way in which the Community revenue is collected, thus allowing the increase in budgetary allocation of local administrations, offering better quality of life in municipalities.

 

The Cabinet was briefed on drafting of State Budget and updated schedule of the 2018 Public Investment Programme (PIP).

 

The meeting also allowed the participants to learn of the mission of Angola to the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund(IMF ) and World Bank (WB).

 

The Cabinet Council is  consultation body of the President of Republic.

 

In addition to the President and Vice-President, the Cabinet groups all ministers of State, and ministers.
