At Sunday’s win over the Cubs, two Comfort Keepers In-home caregivers assisted in the first pitch ceremony. 250 other Comfort Keepers were on hand.

On August 27th, local Comfort Keepers business owners Clark Bongaardt, Sallie Bongaardt and Ian Bongaardt said thank you to their caregivers by hosting the inaugural annual special Caregiver Appreciation Day at the Philadelphia Phillies game. The Phillies played host to the Chicago Cubs. Over 250 Comfort Keepers caregivers attended the event. A tailgate party was held with excellent local food trucks and chefs providing exotic and not so exotic baseball foods, and other baseball game staples, which were all presented as all you can eat specialties for the “Keepers.”

The festivities at the start of the game scored big. Special caregivers, Timika Evans, of Springfield, and Maddy Waddy, of Jenkintown, enjoyed a once in a lifetime opportunity participating in the “first pitch” ceremony. Both Timika and Maddy are longtime Phillies fans were living a dream to be a part of the “first pitch.”

“These caregivers are truly unique people. Most do this work because they like to help people,” said Sallie Bongardt. “We wanted to show our appreciation for their hard work and honor them" she further stated. Enjoying a day where we all Come together while at a fabulous facility like “The Park” is spectacular.” She said. The Phillies came from behind and rallied with the help of the Keepers 250 voices cheering them along. The Phillies beat the Cubs by a score of 6-3.

The local owners and management team plan to make the Comfort Keepers Caregiver Appreciation Day an annual event.
