Colorado Legislation Seeks To Facilitate Service of Process in Gated Communities
We of the process serving community should do all we can to ensure that similar laws pass in all 50 states.
DENVER, CO, UNITED STATES, May 17, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- DENVER – The Colorado Legislature is considering a bill that will greatly facilitate service of process in gated communities. Serving residents of gated communities (and condominiums with a security desk) has long been a problem for process servers, as the security personnel make access to the home of the person to be served impossible.
Colorado now stands to become one of the states that make it possible for process servers to do their jobs properly. The legislation – HB 1095 – will give the process server options such as serving the security guard as a substitute for the unreachable person.
The bill’s fate in the Legislature isn’t certain, but everyone in the process serving community should hope for its passage – and hope that other states will soon enact similar legislation.
