Anderson Chiropractic Announces Safe, Conservative New Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis

MCMURRAY, Pa., March 26, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Anderson Chiropractic today announced its safe and conservative treatment for plantar fasciitis. This treatment combines ultrasound and cold laser to bring about healing and relief. A "cold" laser is a newer form of laser that penetrates through several layers of tissue without making cuts. Ultrasound also penetrates tissue without breaking the skin. This combination allows deep tissue to be positively affected without the risks of surgery.

"For years, people that were seeking plantar fasciitis relief were left with surgery as their final option. But now with our combination of ultrasound, cold laser therapy, orthotics and exercises we can open up a new avenue for healing  even with the toughest cases," explains Dr. Scott Anderson of Anderson Chiropractic.

Ultrasound has been around for years, and it has been used in many different healing applications. However, by itself, it hasn't been enough to treat plantar fasciitis and a number of other conditions. This has caused it to be used mainly for diagnostics rather than therapy.

The cold laser, on the other hand, is relatively new. It gains its name not by being literally cold, but because it runs much cooler than previous medical lasers. Testing has found that this instrument is very effective at bringing about tissue regeneration and healing.

"Tissue reacts to cold laser treatment in a very interesting way. The mitochondria in the cells produce more ATP, which is the biochemical that provides energy to cells. Since this production comes from the cell itself, it is immediately available to the body. The body then uses this 'power plant' molecule to accelerate healing. Laser treatment also increases the production of endorphins, which are the body's own painkillers. Together, this gives the patient fast relief while allowing for accelerated long-term healing," Dr. Anderson explains.

This new treatment provides an option for anyone who hasn't seen relief from traditional therapies but doesn't want to choose the surgical option. Since the skin isn't broken with this combination, there is no risk of infection like there would be with surgery. It is, of course, also less daunting to undergo this process.

New patients interested in this therapy should contact Anderson Chiropractic to set up an evaluation and get a treatment plan. Appointments may be made by calling (724) 941-5805.
