Gettysburg National Military Park Invites International Artist as NPS Artist in Residence

National Parks Arts Foundation & Gettysburg National M. Park invite famous international artists as their National Parks Artist in Residence Programs.

Gettysburg National Military Park can offer the perfect backdrop to provide inspiration for the arts.....”
— Superintendent of Gettysburg NMP, Ed Clark
WASHINGTON DC, WASHINGTON DC, UNITED STATES, March 9, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Gettysburg National Military Park’s Artists-in-Residence for March/April will be Itamar Reiner, an International Artist in Residence from Isreal who will pursues contemporary interpretations of classic subjects through digital media and plein-air painting during his month-long residency on the Gettysburg battlefield.

Gettysburg National Military Park, in cooperation with the non-profit National Parks Arts Foundation (NPAF) and the Gettysburg Foundation, invite art lovers to hear Israeli artist-in-residence Itamar Reiner reflect on his residency at Gettysburg and on his art and career at an Artist Showcase Presentation in Gettysburg National Military Park’s Museum and Visitor Center on Friday, April 7, from 10 a.m. until 1p.m.

As the park’s superintendent, Ed Clark, explains, “Gettysburg National Military Park can offer the perfect backdrop to provide inspiration for the arts. As the National Park Service strives to connect with new generations, we look forward to leading the arts and interpretation of Gettysburg into the future, while always remembering our mission of preserving history.”

Mr. Reiner is a versatile artist who has studied in Israel, America, and Eastern Europe, and whose work draws upon such eclectic spheres as literature, cinema, and gaming. Mr. Reiner endeavors to use “modern means to create fantastic images inspired by the philosophies of the Impressionists.”

Mr. Reiner is himself a veteran of Israel’s Air Force, and intends to reflect both on America’s and Israel’s respective civil strife, as well as to address the philosophical aspects of art. He will also consider his technical and stylistic theories of art by reference to his own work, both in digital and classical media; in particular, he will explore how an artist can abstract what he sees, breaking his vision down into blocks of color.

Mr. Reiner was chosen in the NEW thematic programming that invites artists of any media and genre to be inspired by the beauty, history and resources of Gettysburg National Military Park. This thematic program title is “ARTS REVOLVER”.

The NEW GETTYSBURG OPPORTUNITIES ARE OPEN NOW ! This year is the FIRST YEAR we have introduced program themes to the Artist in residence programs, in order to diversify the interconnection of the arts with broader demographic inclusion. These programs will alternate through 2017 & 2018 :

U.S. Military Veterans Artists in Residence: During January, July and November 2017, Gettysburg’s Artists in Residence will bring U.S. Veterans to Gettysburg NMP for a unique and historical perspective of those who serve our country.

ALEMBIC ARTS (New Media) – this includes many varied and mixed arts media: virtual reality, film, photography, augmented reality, computer imaging, and any and all combinations of these in themselves, or in combination with classic art media.

LiterAudiArts: NPAF’s most fascinating theme focuses on many and all aspects of speech: words, sounds, song, and music. A few examples of this are POETRY, screenplays, spoken word, environmental recordings, sound art, wall of sound experimentation.

Programs like Gettysburg National Military Park’s artist-in-residence series, in which all artists seek inspiration from the beauty and history of our national parks, and agree to share their ideas with park patrons, represent some of the highest aspirations of the National Park Service.

The National Parks Arts Foundation (NPAF), a 501(c)3 non-profit, has expanded its Artist-in-Residence program Service at Gettysburg National Military Park to include 16 artists over 12 months.
