Wichita -- Andrew Hysell, Executive Director of the Kansas Reading Roadmap (KRR), will speak at 1 Million Cups, a regular event to educate and connect entrepreneurs, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Wichita State Old Town. The Kansas Reading Roadmap (KRR) is an innovative approach to increasing the effectiveness of schools and how they teach early literacy. Through the KRR, schools increase the percentage of early proficient readers which drives lifelong academic and career success. The KRR works with more than fifty schools across the state, improving school instruction and aligning afterschool, summer and family engagement programs with school data and practice. At the heart of the KRR approach is the reality that schools can better use existing funding and resources to achieve improved academic outcomes.

Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups is a national program based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions over a million cups of coffee. Groups meet regularly in 35 different states to provide a supportive, neutral space welcoming entrepreneurs to be open and honest about their businesses and the challenges they face.

The KRR is funded by the Kansas Department for Children and Families with support from the Kansas Department of Education and local school districts.
