Thanksgiving Day Message from UAW President Dennis Williams

As we celebrate Thanksgiving and reflect on our blessings, let’s also remember those who aren’t as fortunate and let’s help those who are in need. Thanksgiving is an American holiday and America is a land of hope built on a foundation of freedom and equality. We should never take for granted the things that make our country great, such as freedom of speech and religion as defined in the Bill of Rights written by our founding fathers over 200 years ago. Similarly, our union’s core values as written in the UAW Constitution say we are to unite regardless of religion, race, creed, color, sex, political affiliation or nationality, age, disability, marital status or sexual orientation to improve the safety and working conditions within the workplace. As we return to our workplaces after the holiday, we must remember that we have a responsibility to each other and to future generations of working men and women who will be guided by the actions we take. As Americans and as union members, let’s lift everyone as we head into the holiday season and the new year and beyond.
