The water-resistant, Android-compatible unit uses a home's router system to connect to a phone, tablet, or Kindle Fire via its accompanying smart device application and comes with two high-heat probes. The desired doneness of food can be selected within the iChef app, ranging from rare to well done depending on the type of meat that is being monitored. Users can check in on the cooking progress and the estimated remaining cook time. Several timers can be programmed when preparing multiple foods at once and an alert will be sent after cooking is complete.

As a WiFi-enabled unit, consumers will have access to a pre-set library of recipes provided in the iChef app and will additionally be able to import and store recipes from various online sources. The ET-736 also comes with social sharing capabilities, enabling pictures and recipes to be sent to family and friends.

Maverick's introduction of its iChef ET-736 WiFi Roasting Thermometer further expands the company's line of app-enabled thermometers. For both indoor and outdoor cooking, these smart thermometers allow for ease and assurance while cooking, roasting, smoking and barbecuing.

The ET-736 is now available in select retailers, online and in-store, for $159.99. iOS compatibility will be available later this year.
