Commission provides €380.000 for customs reforms in Central Africa

Africa, Caribbean, Pacific | Brussels, 14 October 2016

The European Commission today committed €380.000 to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for the benefit of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) to improve coordination and implementation of customs reforms dictated by the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (FTA).

The EU grant will support the countries of the region in putting in place the agreement. It will also boost capacities of their respective National Committees on Trade Facilitation to comply with other relevant national, regional and international requirements and share lessons learned throughout the region.

The project will be run in cooperation with UNCTAD over a period of three years, starting in January 2017.
