Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor: Special Envoy Berry Travels to Hong Kong and Sydney, Australia


Special Envoy for the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) Persons Randy Berry will travel to Hong Kong from October 5 to 7. During his visit he will meet with civil society organizations, legislators, businesses, and other stakeholders to discuss how to advance collectively a shared agenda of equality and dignity for all.

From October 11 to 14, Special Envoy Berry will visit Sydney, Australia, where he will lead the U.S. delegation to the first-ever Joint Dialogue to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTI Persons in the Pacific Islands. The Dialogue will be hosted by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Special Envoy Berry will also deliver opening remarks at the LGBTI Pacific Youth Forum convened by the Kaleidoscope Trust and participate in a panel session with activists from the Pacific Islands region. While in Sydney, Special Envoy Berry will also meet with a broad range of stakeholders, including private businesses and advocates, to work to address the human rights of Aboriginal LGBTI persons.
