I was a school principal in Boston then, and I vividly remember our staff, students, and families consoling each other and struggling to grasp the unspeakable tragedies. As we take time today to reflect on this moment in history and the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, we also honor the first responders and everyday heroes of that day and pay tribute to the families who still live with the loss of loved ones.
