Statement by Minister Joly on Eid al-Adha
/EINPresswire.com/ -- This week marks the beginning of celebrations of Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice. I am delighted to join Muslims in Canada and around the world in celebrating one of the most important holidays in Islam.
Eid al-Adha takes place during the month of Dhul Hijjah and comes at the end of the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca. For many Muslims, Eid al-Adha celebrations include making charitable donations, visiting friends and family, exchanging gifts and enjoying festive meals.
I invite all Canadians to learn more about this holiday, which is a great opportunity to recognize the contributions of Canada's diverse Muslim community to our country. Diversity is one of Canada's greatest strengths, and all Canadians benefit from our pluralism and spirit of openness.
To everyone observing Eid al-Adha, I wish you a most joyous celebration. Eid Mubarak!
